Unsung Heroes of Vitality

What’s going on primal peoples?

Today I’d like to follow up on unsung heroes of breathing with some unsung heroes of vitality.

It’s a tricky word, vitality but one I really like over words like fit or healthy. Truth is our standards for what it means to be fit or healthy have been slipping over time. What we might call healthy right now falls in the middle of the spectrum of human wellness in my opinion.

Vitality is aliveness, the word itself hints at energy, activity and flow.

Reading “The Body Electric” by Robert Becker and “PEMF” the Fifth Element of Health Bryant Meyers has led me to consider the electrical aspect of Health as a central element.

From electrodes accelerating the healing of fractured bone, changing the electrical frequency our brain operates at (brain waves) and the electrical nature of the Fascia itself, it’s clear there is more to the story of healing and wellness.

That said, let’s call this Bioelectricity the charge in our body. To increase the charge in our body with quality movement, food etc. is to become truly healthier.

It’s been said that everything we do is either making us better or worse.. Everytime we eat, sleep, move, speak.. We are investing into something. Will it have a positive payoff? That is the question.

Position

Let’s consider Position. The position of our body relative to itself and the Earth makes a difference in potential. Potentiation of a muscle has to do with it being at the proper length and having neural drive (electrical impulse) to act in a certain context.

When our leg extends in gait, a well potentiated hip flexor will stretch with the neural drive to contract and lift our leg right afterwards, maintaining the flow of our walking.

A body which is well balanced in terms of Fascia will be more potentiated. We will have higher neural drive and potentiation of muscles but the interesting idea is this….

A body which is well balanced in terms of Fascia is potentiated beyond movement. Metabolism, Immunity, Digestion, Circulation etc. all have electrical aspects to them which can be potentiated as well.

The closer we come into alignment, the greater our electrical potential becomes. This boosts our health in a big way, our movement and metabolism.

As our structure becomes more potentiated we are now able to function at a higher level and make greater use of the other factors present in nature.

Our Re-Dox Potential has increased. This means we are more able to accept free electrons.. The Electron Transport Chain is our method of producing energy (ATP).. that makes higher Re-Dox Potential a very good thing.

Sunlight

Sunlight is the primary stimulus for human beings. Driving the production of Vitamin D and Serotonin. It is well known people become depressed from lack of sunlight. Next time you’re out in the sun feel how it energizes you.. Even better with some quality water and movement!

Plants

Forest Bathing is a popular practice in Japan. The idea is to take in the Fresh Air from the trees but also the electromagnetic field of the forest.

The electrical potential of our body is impacted in a big way by the foods we eat. Plants are the chemists of nature. Producing an unbelievable variety of phytochemicals, consuming plants and interacting with them actually alters what our body is able to do. Phytochemicals are plant chemicals which can stimulate certain aspects of our genetic coding to express.

This means plants can upregulate and downregulate different genes. Our ancestors knew this and used Herbal Medicine for an impressive variety of purposes.

Fungi

Fungi are right there with plants in their ability to produce uniquely influential chemistry. Medicinal Mushrooms like Reishi, Chaga, Lions Mane and Cordyceps have a long history of use for similar reasons.

This list could be very long but we’ll save the rest for another day.

For today we impress the Idea that our Vitality is based on more than what we’re taught to consider. Any of us seeking to improve our well being should consider adding these three elements into their strategy.

Correcting our Biomechanics as done in Functional Patterns will create a structure which is more able to leverage the other elements of health like Sunlight and Water.

Wishing you Great Vitality,

Hello and welcome to the Primal Fitness Project. I’m a Personal Trainer with a deep interest in the body/mind. I believe it’s coming to light there is much more overlap between body and mind; physiology and psychology. In the context of evolution, the conditions we are experiencing are quite new and surprisingly unpleasant to our genetics. Major environmental conditions like lighting, temperature, food and stress are having negative impacts on our genetic expression. Negative impacts on our very human blueprint. I’m not suggesting we run off into the woods or abandon the progress that benefits us. I am suggesting that we begin to ask questions about where our culture has lost balance with the human blueprint. In an industry oriented purely the physical and worse still, dominated by dissection mentality. Disconnecting the body instead of training it as a whole. Isolating muscle groups is being shown to have negative impacts on our Fascia, the organ of form which integrates all systems of the body. The rates of injury and degeneration are fire alarms signaling our straying from the path. This BIG! It means we are unintentionally limiting ourselves in the quality of our movement and psychology. On top of that there are the environmental challenges of diet, distraction and sleep. It’s fair to say we’ve hit a low point in health and happiness with the epidemic of diseases both mental and physical. This space represents our resurgence. We’re building a community conscious of these challenges and prepared to take action back towards balance. Our weapons are information and practice. Here you will find information from people looking to empower you to take control of the six major points in our Hexagon of Health: Mentality, Movement, Breath, Sleep, Nutrition and Community. Let us put this information into practice and become stronger together.
